1. Who we are
Business Energy Experts ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 08424810. Our registered office is Second Floor, Beechwood Court, Springwood Way, Tytherington Business Park, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 2XG.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number Z3585914. You can contact us about privacy matters at supportdata@commercialenergyleads.co.uk.
We run a free business energy comparison and introduction service. We are not an energy supplier.
2. What personal data we collect
- Contact details: your name, job title, email address and phone number.
- Business details: business name, business type, postcode and number of sites.
- Energy details: the fuel you need, your current supplier, approximate spend and your contract end date (if you choose to give it).
- Consent records: what you agreed to, the exact wording shown, the date and time, the page you were on, your IP address and browser details, and the list of partners shown at that time.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and information collected by cookies (see our Cookie Policy), plus the advertising campaign that brought you to our site.
- Call and email records: records of our communications with you, which may include call recordings.
3. How we collect it
- Directly from you when you complete our quote, contact or data request forms.
- Automatically through cookies and similar technologies, where you've allowed them.
- From our communications with you by phone, email or SMS.

5. Who we share it with
- Our partners: the energy suppliers and brokers listed on our Our Partners page, only where you've given consent. Each partner becomes a controller of your data and will use it under their own privacy policy.
- Our service providers: hosting, email, CRM, analytics and advertising platforms, who act as processors on our instructions under written contracts.
- Authorities: regulators, law enforcement or others where we're legally required to do so.
We never sell your data to anyone not listed on our Our Partners page.
6. Telephone and email marketing
We and our partners comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). Where required, telephone numbers are screened against the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS) before calls are made, unless you've specifically consented to be called. You can opt out at any time by using our Manage My Data page, clicking "unsubscribe" in any email, replying STOP to an SMS, or telling the caller.
7. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement (or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
8. How long we keep data
- Lead data: up to 24 months from our last contact with you.
- Consent records: 6 years, as evidence of consent.
- Data protection requests: 6 years.
After these periods, we securely delete or anonymise your data.
9. How we keep data secure
We use encryption in transit, access controls, secure hosting and staff training to protect your data, and we limit access to people who need it. We require our processors to apply equivalent safeguards.
10. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access a copy of your data
- have inaccurate data corrected (rectification)
- have your data deleted (erasure)
- restrict how we use your data
- object to processing based on legitimate interests
- data portability
- withdraw your consent at any time
To exercise your rights, use our Manage My Data page or email supportdata@commercialenergyleads.co.uk. We'll respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we'd appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.

We use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. Non-essential cookies are only set if you accept them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed.
