Question 1

Is it free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our comparison and introduction service is completely free for your business, and there is no obligation to accept any quote you receive.

Question 2

Are you an energy supplier?

Accepted Answer

No. Business Energy Experts is a comparison and introduction service. We do not supply gas or electricity. We pass your enquiry to the partners listed on our Our Partners page, who provide the quotes.

Question 3

Who will contact me?

Accepted Answer

Only the partners listed on our Our Partners page, and only if you tick the consent box on our quote form. They may contact you by phone, email or SMS about business energy quotes.

Question 4

How do you make money?

Accepted Answer

We may receive a fee from our partners when we introduce your business to them. This never affects the price you are quoted, and you never pay us anything.

Question 5

Where do I find my contract end date?

Accepted Answer

Check a recent energy bill (often on the first or second page), your original contract or renewal letter, or your supplier's online account. You can also call your supplier and ask. If you're unsure, you can still request quotes — the contract end date is optional.

Question 6

Can I compare if I'm still in contract?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many suppliers let you agree a new contract up to 12 months or more before your current one ends, so you can lock in a price early. You don't need to wait until your contract has finished.

Question 7

What's a deemed or out-of-contract rate?

Accepted Answer

If your contract ends and you don't agree a new one, or you move into premises without a contract, you are usually placed on deemed or out-of-contract rates. These are often significantly higher than fixed contract prices, so it's worth comparing as soon as possible.

Question 8

Do you work with sole traders?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We help limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, charities and other organisations of all sizes across the UK.

Question 9

How long does switching take?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the supplier and your contract, but a switch typically takes a few weeks once you've agreed a new contract. Your new supplier manages the process.

Question 10

Will my supply be interrupted?

Accepted Answer

No. Switching supplier doesn't involve any physical work on your gas or electricity supply. The same pipes and wires are used — only the company that bills you changes.

Question 11

How do I stop being contacted?

Accepted Answer

You can withdraw your consent at any time using our Manage My Data page, by emailing our data protection contact, or by telling the partner who contacts you that you no longer wish to hear from them.

Question 12

How do you protect my data?

Accepted Answer

We use secure, encrypted systems, limit access to staff who need it, and only share your details with the partners listed on our Our Partners page. We're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (registration number Z3585914). See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Question 13

What information do I need to get a quote?

Accepted Answer

Your business postcode, business type, what fuel you need, your current supplier and approximate monthly spend, plus your name and contact details. Your contract end date is helpful but optional.

Question 14

Will a credit check be carried out?

Accepted Answer

Suppliers usually carry out a business credit check before offering a contract. This is part of their own process and terms, not ours.

Question 15

What is a fixed-price contract?

Accepted Answer

A fixed-price contract locks in your unit rates and standing charges for an agreed term, often one to five years, giving you more predictable energy costs.

Question 16

Can I get quotes for more than one site?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Mention multiple sites when a partner contacts you and they can quote for each of your premises.
